Dear friends,
I have a Roco E71 DR from about 1982. I need to clean and service him, but have no idea how to take him apart. I have seen later versions instructions that show a small recessed screw below the bogies. Mine does not have this just a lump over the gears.
Also can anyone give me any ideas on what to do to get him running? At the moment he is moving but very slowly.

Ich habe einen Roco E71 DR von etwa 1982. Ich muss ihn reinigen und warten, habe aber keine Ahnung, wie ich ihn auseinandernehmen soll. Ich habe Anleitungen für spätere Versionen gesehen, die eine kleine versenkte Schraube unter den Drehgestellen zeigen. Meiner hat das nicht, nur eine Beule über den Zahnrädern.
Kann mir auch jemand eine Idee geben, was ich tun kann, um ihn zum Laufen zu bringen? Im Moment bewegt er sich, aber sehr langsam.

Hello Martin,

... but there's a hole in the lump and the screw is located in the depth (very deep!) of this hole. You'll need a very fine slot-screwdriver! I've copied my instructions for you:

Please note: Screw does not come out! There's no risk of losing it.

Hello Thomas,

Thank you so much for the instructions. When I remove the plastic plate on the bogie, below the lump are the gears, I cannot see any screw !! All I see is the axels and gears. I see the hole but below that are the gears.(red)

Vielen Dank für die Anleitung. Wenn ich die Kunststoffplatte am Drehgestell entferne, sind unter dem Klumpen die Zahnräder, ich kann keine Schraube erkennen!! Ich sehe nur die Achsen und Zahnräder. Ich sehe das Loch, aber darunter sind die Zahnräder. (rot)

Doesn't it look like that in your case?

The screw is at an extreme depth and may not be visible at all, but can still be reached with an extremely fine screwdriver!

Hello Martin,

I've just tried it out: You can reach the screw without having seen it before. But it's much easier if you have previously recognised the alignment of the screw slot in best light.

Gentlemen ,

First a big thank you for all your advise and help. Yes I got it all stripped down and was shocked by the amount of carbon in the body and on the motor, no wonder the poor thing was struggling to move !
When I put my fingers in to remove the motor they were covered in carbon, I have never seen a model with this amount of carbon on it.
I have owned it since new and other than oil I never took it apart.
I must wait now for new carbon brushes to arrive and then reassemble everything. I cleaned the motor and tested it and it runs fine

Zunächst einmal ein großes Dankeschön für all eure Ratschläge und Hilfe. Ja, ich habe alles zerlegt und war schockiert über die Menge an Kohlenstoff in der Karosserie und am Motor. Kein Wunder, dass das arme Ding Schwierigkeiten hatte, sich zu bewegen!
Als ich meine Finger hineinsteckte, um den Motor zu entfernen, waren sie mit Karbon überzogen. Ich habe noch nie ein Modell mit so viel Karbon gesehen.
Ich besitze es, seitdem es neu ist, und außer dem Öl habe ich es nie auseinandergenommen.
Ich muss jetzt warten, bis neue Kohlebürsten eintreffen und dann alles wieder zusammenbauen. Ich habe den Motor gereinigt und getestet und er läuft einwandfrei

Nochmals vielen Dank an alle und ich warte auf Ihre Kommentare
